How can we use 2-D materials
to create a 3-D design?
We will create a 3-D optical illusion
using repetition and patterns on 2-D paper.
Op Art is short for optical illusion
. You, the viewer, is tricked to see something different.
Patterns
are shapes, lines and colors repeated over and over.
2-D means two-dimensional
. A shape can be measured two ways - by height and width. An example of a shape is a square, a rectangle, or a triangle.
3-D means three-dimensional
. A form can be measured three ways - by height, width and depth. An example of a form is a cube, a cone or a cylinder.
