It is time to ‘March for the Arts’! Eleven years ago, former Delaware Senator Dorinda A. Connor wrote Senate Bill No. 116, designating the month of March as “March for Arts in Education Month”. Senator Conner dreamed of a month devoted to celebrating arts education and why it is important for Delaware’s youth to study music, visual art and theatre. The Delaware Art Education Association held a flag design contest and Eisenberg has three winners in the Elementary Division!!!! Check them out! Delaware Art Education Association Youth Art Month http://1stdaea.com/youth_art_month.htm On Friday, December 6th Eisenberg students will dress up in the career of their choice! I love my job as an art teacher but there are so many careers in art, it was very hard to choose!

A handful of Colonial students, from each school, were chosen to be featured in an exhibit at the Delaware Art Museum. The work will be on display through March 29th. The Delaware Art Museum, located at 2301 Kentmere Parkway, Wilmington, DE 19806, is open Wednesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday noon – 4:00 p.m. Admission is FREE every Sunday. For more information and admission fees, call 302-571-9590 or 866-232-3714 (toll free), or visit the website at www.delart.org Founded in 1912, the Delaware Art Museum is best known for its large collection of British Pre-Raphaelite art, works by Wilmington-native Howard Pyle and fellow American illustrators, and urban landscapes by John Sloan and his circle. Visitors can also enjoy the outdoor Copeland Sculpture Garden and a number of special exhibitions throughout the year. Youth Art Month is designed to promote art and art education in the United States. It is observed in March, with thousands of American schools participating, often with the involvement of local art museums and civic organizations. For the past 15 years, students in Delaware have been competing to design a flag celebrating Youth Art Month. The student designed flag is flown at the National Art Educator Association (NAEA) National Convention. This year’s 'Runners Up' winners in the Elementary Division are ALL from Harry O.
